Every child an individual, every child to excel.
Clapham C of E VC Primary and Nursery School is a small village school in a beautiful rural setting. Our village nestles under the slopes of Ingleborough, one of the three peaks of the Yorkshire Dales. Clapham School has a long history and has served the community in our present building since 1864 which was built by the Farrer family. Whilst the school is located in the countryside of the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, the village has a railway station and is in commuting distance to Leeds, Harrogate and Lancaster. The Lake District is also approximately a 30 minute drive away and the Lune valley is very close as are the towns of Settle and Kirby Lonsdale.
Today I am proud that our historic building is filled with happy, hardworking and polite children who learn and develop following a curriculum that is broad, varied and rich in opportunities. We strongly believe in providing children with a nurturing, family environment where individual needs are met and children are encouraged to aim high to reach their goals. Our team of experienced, committed and hardworking staff ensure that children are safe, well cared for and reach their learning potential. We work together as a community according to our Christian and British values whilst also learning of other religions and cultures from around the World. Learning at Clapham is fun and exciting and we offer our children a range of extra-curricular opportunities after school. We also provide many opportunities for outdoor learning including educational visits and residentials.
We have great facilities on our school site. The main school building has a spacious classroom, hall, school kitchen, library and computing suite and offices. A second modern classroom is housed in our grounds with its own cloakroom, toilet and separate smaller learning area ideal for small group work. Both classrooms have interactive learning panels which allow children to engage in a wide range of learning opportunities. Outdoors we have a generously sized playground as well as a large grassed area for the children to play. There is a small reflection garden and pond area for quieter outdoor enjoyment. Our commitment to the Food for Life project means that we also have areas in our grounds where we grow a variety of fruit and vegetables which children care for, harvest and cook with.
I hope this information has provided a flavour of our school. In order to fully appreciate what we can offer your child why not pay us a visit and come and see for yourself our special environment, experience the calm, happy and hard working atmosphere and meet our wonderful children. I look forward to welcoming you!
