The Purpose of the Grant

 

The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, in the 2017 to 2018 academic year, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

At Clapham Primary School, we work closely with our cluster of small schools to arrange opportunities for sport fixtures so that small cohorts of children

Primary PE Sport Grant Awarded to the school £8,140

2016/2017

The Sport Premium is an amount of money allocated to the school by the Government. It is ring fenced and at the discretion of the head teacher as to how it is spent on the development of school sport. The government funding has been provided to ensure that schools achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport within schools.

 

At Clapham Primary School our aim is to:-

  • Engage all pupils in regular physical activity, in order for them to develop healthy lifestyles
  • To raise the profile of PE and Sport across the school for all children
  • To increase the knowledge and skills of all staff in the delivery of PE and to use specialist staff to deliver a high quality curriculum
  • To offer all children a broad range of sporting activities
  • To increase children’s participation in competitive sport and sign post children to sports clubs within the area
  • To purchase equipment and cover other costs in order to broaden children’s sporting experiences
  • To raise children’s awareness that being active and eating a balanced diet will help them to have a healthy lifestyle

To subsidise visit for Y6 children to take part in an adventurous outdoor activity day with other Y6 children from the North Craven Cluster

Ingleborough Hall - costs include full day of challenging team bonding such as gorge scrambling and abseiling

Children can access adventurous activities alongside the children who they will be joining in secondary school.  This day allows children to form new friendships while challenging themselves to adventuring.

Children are recognised for their successes and the school can celebrate these with parents and carers

 

 

As a result of the provision in place in school ; the opportunities for children to participate in a variety of sports and for them to participate competitively has resulted in the school achieving the Sainsbury’s schools games mark, in which we reached a bronze award. This year we are taking part in new sports competitions and aiming for our Silver Award
